Her heart rate is about 120, with a respiration rate of about 40 to 60. A Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).  She is in room '2' of the NICU.  It is actually one big room divided into four sections called rooms '1', '2', '3', and '4'.  I was led to believe that the normal course of events was for a baby to start in room '1' or higher, and then progress to room '4' prior to going home.  Room '1' was considered to be the most critical room.  I took Jo's mom home, and then after checking the mail and getting something to eat, I went back to visit with Jo.  Pete and Penny stopped in for a visit.  Jo has a new room-mate - she is also one of Dr. Kucharski's patients.

Dr. Kucharski dropped in later in the day.  I asked him Some questions about Jennifer's birth - he seemed very defensive.  I wanted to know if because of Jennifer's problems at birth, there was any chance of brain damage - he said that the birth was quick and uncomplicated, except for Jennifer's breathing problems.  If the birth was uncomplicated, why did Metro feel that Jennifer looked as if she were born vaginally instead of via a C-sect. I wondered that question, but never asked it.

Jo is now getting pain pills instead of shots, and Dr. Kucharski has Manual Breast Pump. now ordered T.E.D hose for Jo as he had promised to do in the first place.  The nurse then got Jo a pair, but they were three sizes too big; thus, they were useless.  He has also ordered an incision girdle for Jo.  Gene called Jo, and I talked to him a bit also. Jo is starting to cry for her baby.  It just does not seem right that they have Jo in a room with a girl who in feeding her baby right there, while Jo must wait a week before she can even touch her Jennifer.  Jo is using a breast pump, so that I can take her milk to Metro for Jennifer.

Apr 22, Su - I went to see Jo at 10:30 AM.  Dr. Kucharski dropped in for a bit.  I stayed until about 1:00 PM, and then went over to Metro to see Jennifer, and to drop off Jo's milk.   Jo was able to take a shower today.  We walked the halls for a while.  Jennifer is still on an I/V, and her Bilirubin count is 10.5.  Her weight is 5# 14 oz - she lost a bit.  I talked with Jo on the phone several times today.  Earlier, I took home some of the planters that Jo received. Gene and Sandy came by for a visit, and later they went over to Metro to see Jennifer.  I called Sue Reese at home to fill her in on the events, and to ask for Monday and Tuesday off - OK.

Apr 23, M - My mom Lygia Banhidy. Me holding Jennifer. I went to see and hold Jennifer at Metro.  Her Bilirubin count is 10.5, and her weight is 5# 14 oz - no change from yesterday.  Dr. Orenstein does not have any new news.  I visited with Jo from 11:00 AM till 12:00 Noon, and then I went back to Metro to drop off her milk for Jennifer - although she can not use it yet.  Pete and Penny came by with mom and dad and the kids to visit Jennifer, and then later Jo.
