May 22, Tu - I called the NICU from work to see how Jennifer was doing.  The nurse told me that Jennifer's weight today was 3040.  She is to go to Rainbow today for her Bronchoscopy at 9:30 AM.  Dr. Cromer still feels that Jennifer has an H Fistula - even though I pointed out to her that if Jennifer had that Fistula, the mucus that she swallows, or the Barium swallow that she was given would have gone through.

I called Dr. Cromer from work, she let me know that the test for the Fistula was negative, but she did not seem pleased with the results.  I called again later to check on Jennifer's condition - the nurse's aid that she was down to have some X-rays taken.  Somehow I did not feel comfortable, and left work early to pick up Jo, and go see Jennifer. Infant X-Ray Unit.  When we got there, the nurse said that Jennifer earlier had a serious episode of turning blue, and had to be taken to the treatment room for resuscitation.  When we arrived, Jennifer was just being transferred back from X-ray.  I'm not sure why they had to take her anywhere for the X-ray, since X-rays are usually done in the NICU rooms.  She had her left arm X-rayed to check on the position of her deep vein I/V.  When the nurse went to change Jennifer, she found that the X-ray people had not put Jennifer's cloths back on properly in order to keep her warm, but just good enough to make her look presentable.

Jennifer was supposed have a splint on her left arm in order to prevent damage to her deep vein I /V by bending her arm.  The splint was not covered with any sort of material.  It was just bare wood, and it was placed on her arm in such a manner that instead of preventing her from bending her arm, it actually cut into her incision site.  The surgeon who was responsible for the incision came by, and upon looking at the incision, determined that it was infected and that the deep vein I/V had to be removed.  When later I asked Drs. King and Cromer if Jennifer's deep vein I/V site could have become infected from the wooden splint's intrusion into I the incision site, they said that the wooden splint could not have played any role in the matter.

We stayed until about 5:30 PM, then we left for a while, and returned again at 8:00 PM. Dr. Cromer came over to us, and said that Jennifer did marvelously at her session at Rainbow for the Bronchoscopy, and that Jennifer looked just fine, and in her opinion, Jennifer would be just fine from now on.  Well, Jennifer did not look good to us at all.  Dr. Severe Butt Rash / Thrush. Cromer totally ignored Jennifer's earlier episode of turning blue, nor did she make any mention of the infected I/V.  At this point,Jennifer's Temp was in the 35's.  No more than 10 minutes after Dr. Cromer's flowery speech on Jennifer's condition, Jennifer had to be rushed to the treatment room by Dr. Cromer, because the nurse could not 'bag' Jennifer back from turning blue again.  Jennifer still has a bad thrush infection.
